Ice Cream Social Tonight!

The Lamar Chamber of Commerce and Lamar Parks and Recreation Department would like to invite everyone to a FREE Ice Cream Social and Swim tonight, Thursday, August 2nd. Social begins at 6p, followed by free swim at 7p. Location: Willow Creek Park south side of swimming pool.7/13/12

Babe Ruth 14 Prep – Host Families Needed!

Lamar will play host to the Babe Ruth Midwest Plains Regional Baseball Tournament for the 14 year old PREP. This tournament will take place August 3 – 8, 2012 with boys from Lamar, Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado, Kansas, North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Canada competing.

Do you love baseball and have a spare bedroom or two? Well, forty to fifty local families are being sought to serve as hosts to players during the tournament as it is one of the requirements by the Babe Ruth Organization. Host families are responsible for transporting their players to and from ballgames, for food and for the laundering of the players’ uniforms. The host family tournament picnic and meeting will kick-off Friday, August 3 at 6:00pm.

Open up your home and share your family, history and culture of our community. Be the players “adopted” family and cheer them on!

The Arkansas Valley Wind & Percussion Ensemble and Lamar Partnership Inc. are partnering for this Community Band Concert on July 4th. We are opening the band up to include musicians from all communities for this patriotic concert.
