Week Long Heat Wave for S.E. Colorado
An oppressive and persistent heat wave is hitting southeast Colorado and other parts of the nation. The National Weather Service in Pueblo is predicting triple digit temperatures from Burlington, CO, to Amarillo, TX and from Pueblo to Garden City through this week. Weekend Storm Clean Up Continues in Lamar ( additional pix)
Clean up efforts got underway in earnest on Sunday, June 3, following the damage from Saturday’s severe thunderstorm which produced winds in town and at the Lamar Airport at 66mph. Power was knocked out to a portion of south Lamar, mostly between Savage Avenue and West Cedar Street. Electricity was restored by emergency crews from Lamar Light and Power by around 7:30 Saturday evening, although repair operations extended until almost midnight. Lamar Days, Chilly, with a Touch of Rain
Chilly temperatures and rainy skies didn’t deter some die-hard parade fans from lining up along East Olive and Main Streets for the annual Lamar Days Parade. Lamar Days, 126 Years of Prairie Proud
The carnival is in town, for the start of Lamar’s birthday celebration. Saturday Clean Up, from 7am to Quittin’ Time

Easter Egg Hunt Set for 9am, Saturday, Willow Creek Park
The Easter Bunny will make her annual appearance at Willow Creek Park Saturday, April 7, at 9am (correct), with Easter eggs and assorted candy and prizes for area youth. The Lamar Parks and Recreation Department host the annual event for kids ages 1 to 10 years old, and area merchants contribute to some of the goodies and prizes. Lamar Rec Advisory Board Focuses on Sports Plex
“We’re going to seek a $265,000 GoCo grant to complete the Sports Plex,” said Lamar Leisure Services Director, Rick Akers, as he addressed the Lamar Recreation Advisory Board during their monthly meeting, Wednesday, March 21. Spooks Who Sprint

There were so many events on the calendar this past spring; the city of Lamar did not have an open date for the bi-annual, city-wide clean-up. FFA Back to School BBQ
The Lamar FFA Chapter organized their 3rd annual FFA Barbecue. The barbecue was held at Willow Creek Park, starting and 7 p.m. All chapter members invited their family to attend the event, and the outcome was great. Lamar Council Hosts Reception for Ron Stock, Urban Renewal Board Meets

The Lamar Redevelopment Authority Board will meet Monday, June 27, at 5:45pm, discussing approval of a resolution for an intergovernmental agreement between the board and Prowers Medical Center hospital district. The contract is for the distribution and sharing of Tax Incremental Funds generated by the hospital district levy. Lamar City Council Approves Officers for Caged Conflict Event
Lamar Days committee members received permission from the city council for waiver of carnival fees at $290 for Crabtree Amusements, a new concession conducting the carnival in Lamar. The council also approved permission to locate one carnival house trailer for three employees at Willow Creek Park from May 11 to May 15.
