Maintenance Funding Sought for PCDI Washington Street Property
The Washington Street property will be shown to a prospective business developer later this month. Prowers County Development Incorporated Executive Director Lisa Nolder informed board members of an interested party during their June 26 monthly meeting. Lamar Council Authorizes Letter of Support for ARPA, New Van for Library
Lamar Mayor, Roger Stagner, signed a letter of support as requested by the City of La Junta, asking the City of Trinidad, an ARPA member, to reconsider its lawsuit against Arkansas River Power Authority. Council Investigates Energy Efficiency Plan for Municipal Buildings
The council approved an agreement for a utility easement for a right of way for water lines which are not located in a public right of way. The easement agreement from private landowners was needed to build the new line which will provide service to Prowers Medical Center along Kendall Drive. Fly Ash Dump Protocols to be Reviewed
Area resident Cathy Tintinger, who has opposed fly ash dumping at the city-owned, East Lamar Landfill, requested the intergovernmental agreement between the county and City of Lamar regarding fly ash disposal be terminated. PCDI Developing Balanced 2012 Budget
The 2012 Prowers County Development Incorporated budget needs trimming, about $23,000 to be balanced for the approaching year. Board members believe $15,000 could be eliminated by taking that Community Partnership line item out of the budget, and the balance could be trimmed from various remaining expenditures. Community Partnerships brought in only $725 so far this year. The bulk of operating funds comes from the City of Lamar and Prowers County, each contributing $50,000 a year. … Read entire article »

PCDI Reviews 2012 Budget, Voices Concerns for Eastern Colorado Economic Representation
Prowers County Development Incorporated, the county economic development organization, will be funded by both the city of Lamar and the county for 2012. 2012 City Budget, Cow Palace Inn License Approved
The Lamar City Council approved The Cow Palace Inn’s application for a new Hotel & Restaurant Liquor license. The Cow Palace Inn has recently been sold and the former owners had allowed the liquor license to expire. The license was granted to Palace Holdings, LLC.
