Lodging Panel Approves Events to Close Year of Funding
All three requests received funding during the last meeting of the year by Lodging Tax Panel Board members, although not all votes were unanimous. Mary Breslin, Lamar Ledger publisher, requested funding for a full page ad in the paper’s tourism publication, Discover Magazine. The board voted to approve a half page advertisement at $350 focusing on motel availability in the county. City Council Discusses Creation of Marketing District
The concept of a marketing district in Lamar was briefly discussed during the city council’s work session on Monday, June 27. A marketing district would parallel some actions of the Lodging Tax Panel, but would derive its funding from an additional tax on lodging in Lamar only, not the entire county. Young Santa Fe Historians Camp in Lamar
Several busloads of youngsters from the Wamego, Kansas area, ages 8 to 12, had on overnight stop in Lamar this past Tuesday, June 7. Lamar Planning to Bid to Host State High School Rodeo Finals
Pat Palmer, Cade Spitz and Tim Tunink approached the Prowers County Commissioners March 29 with options involved in having Lamar and Prowers County host the 2012 and 2013 Colorado State High School Rodeo Finals.
