November Precipitation Report from NWS
November 2011 wasn’t as dry as the previous year, but still one of the driest months of the year. Few counties in southeast Colorado registered precipitation levels above one inch for the month. 2011/2012 Winter Outlook for South Central and Southeast Colorado

The latest USDA Colorado Crop Report, as of September 22, 2011, indicates some improvement in conditions, with 54% of top soil moisture across the state rated as short or very short, compared to 70% last week and 79% at this same time last year. An updated Drought Information Statement from the National Weather Service in Pueblo has indicated some improvement in drought conditions as beneficial rain continues to fall across south central and southeast Colorado, as of August 25, 2011. Fast, Windy and Wet Evening in Prowers County
No significant damage occurred from last night’s fast-moving storm, but several trees, limbs and power poles were toppled by the fierce winds. The Prowers County Sheriff’s office reported trees on the highway in the 13000 block of Highway 50. CDOT crews, a sheriff’s patrol officer and citizen helped clear that portion of the roadway. The National Weather Service reported that as of June 28, the drought monitor continues to indicate exceptional drought (D-4) conditions across southern Baca County. An area of thunderstorms moving through Prowers County shortly after 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24th, and developed a brief land spout tornado approximately 5 miles east of Lamar, near the intersection of US Highway 50 and County Road 13.
