Lamar School Board members cast a unanimous vote in favor of a four-day school week, starting next fall. The pros outweighed the cons among the board members who said the decision was basically driven by less budgeted revenue over the past several years. The Lamar High School DECA Club traveled to the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs for the State DECA Leadership Conference held Feb. 26-28, 2012. Thirty six students attended the conference which included the opening ceremony, competitions, workshops, dance and closing ceremony. Students competed in individual events, team events and promotional campaign events. Christmas came early again this year for numerous Washington and Parkview Elementary school students in Lamar this past Tuesday, December 13. Since October, Lamar High School DECA students have had coat donation sites set up around town for distribution just prior to the holiday break.  The drop off sites were at Alco, the Lamar Community Building, Walmart and Safeway.  Any adult sized coats were taken to Mary and Martha Pantry for donations. Tours, a career show, workshops, concerts, and 45,000 FFA members. Where can all of this be found? The 84th National FFA Convention. The convention is held in Indianapolis, Indiana every year, and FFA members across the 50 states gather together. As DECA week approached, DECA members rushed to get activities together, signs finished, and food ready. This year DECA week was October 10th through October 13th. DECA week always consist, of festive days, this year’s days were: Movie Monday, Tame Your Tummy Tuesday, Wild Wednesday, and Tough-Enough Thursday. DECA started off its week with “Movie Monday”.
