Second Annual Walter Ely Scholarship Fund Winner Announced
Andrea Schultz has won the second Annual Southeastern Developmental Services scholarship in memory of Walter Ely. Ely, who passed away in 2010, was a well-known figure in Lamar from his one-man can collection drive along Main Street and throughout the community. This is the second year that SDS, Southeastern Developmental Services, has awarded a $500 scholarship. Lamar Rotary Hosts Ducky Dash Winners
“We earned about $7,200 from the Ducky Dash sales,” said Mike Renkin of the Lamar Rotary this past Thursday. Renkin was referring to the Rotary’s annual Ducky Dash race held Sunday during Lamar Days activities. LCC Hosts Graduating Class, Honors Arends at Alumnus of the Year
It took a tornado and some prolonged power outages to postpone the 73rd commencement exercises for Lamar Community College late last month. Nursing Earns National Accreditation

The Lamar Police Department has received reports of individuals attempting to sell magazines door to door. Prowers County Commissioners Review Annexation Regulations, Levee Upgrade Plans for County
The Prowers County Commissioners discussed several topics with Mary Root, County Land Use Administrator during their Thursday meeting, March 22. A flood map is being completed for officials in compliance with mandated upgrades to the levee system throughout the country, mandated by FEMA and officials from the National Insurance Commission.
