9th Annual SNOW GOOSE FESTIVAL is Underway
LAMAR, Colo. – The Ninth Annual High Plains Snow Goose Festival is celebrating the arrival of tens of thousands of snow geese and other waterfowl during their migration through southeast Colorado. LCC Accepting Alumni of the Year Nominations
Application forms for nominating the Alumni of the Year at Lamar Community College are now available. Recognition for this year’s honoree will occur during the annual Antelope Night festivities, prior to graduation ceremonies this May. A former student or students who represent the college through their profession or community service efforts will be selected from five criteria. Submissions must include a description of their education and career outline; special interest groups; rationale for the nomination; accomplishments and success as they relate to their education at LCC and any additional relevant information. Lamar Public Library Receives Grant for Laptop Computers and Equipment
The Lamar Public Library has been awarded federal funds for a public computer center as part of a statewide grant led by the Colorado State Library. The full $3.3 million grant includes funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to open new and upgraded public computer centers in 76 communities, including Lamar. The grant includes $27,900 for the Lamar Public Library that will be used to purchase 12 laptop computers and folding desks, scanner, printer, a mobile air card for Internet access outside the library, and an ADA computer station. … Read entire article »
