Cattlemen to Host Meeting, Auction, and Banquet on March 31
LAMAR – Colorado’s oldest livestock organization will meet March 31st here. The annual Bent-Prowers Cattle & Horse Growers Association will mark the start of its 143rd year with its annual meeting, auction, banquet and cowboy ball. Events are open to the ranching community. Doug Thrall Declares Commissioner Candidacy
Lamar businessman Doug Thrall is entering the Prowers County commissioner’s race, declaring his candidacy for District III on the Democratic ticket. His entry will put that district into a four way race among two Republicans; Roger Stagner and Wendy Buxton-Andrade and two Democrats, Jillane Hixson and Thrall. High Winds Maul Main Street
The weatherman was on target with his call for strong winds in southeastern Colorado Tuesday, February 28. Winds in excess of 50mph were whipping up the usual tumbleweeds, but some business signs and businesses along Main Street in Lamar didn’t fare very well. Speedy Meeting for Lamar City Council

Public Hearings Set for Tonight’s Council Meeting

Cow Palace Inn Sold
The Cow Palace Inn was purchased in a public trustee foreclosure sale Wednesday, May 4, at the Prowers County Courthouse. County treasurer Lorraine Woolley conducted the sale at which only one bid was presented, from Zion’s First National Bank in Utah for $723,587. That leaves a deficiency on the property of $1,278,510.79 against Dhillon Investments, Inc. from Tracy, California, the most recent owner of the property.
