Governor lifts statewide fire ban, local bans may still be in place DENVER — Sunday, July 8, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today lifted a statewide fire ban because extreme fire conditions have abated in all 64 Colorado counties as a result of current rainfall and short- and long-term forecasts predicting cooler and wetter weather. Weekend Highway Fatality in Bristol Area
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that occurred July 7, 2012 on Highway 385, milepost 103 north of Bristol. A 1994 Plymouth Voyager mini-van was traveling northbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a delineator post. The mini-van was corrected back onto the roadway, swerved back and forth to the left side of the road where it struck another delineator post. Regional Airports Receive Project Funding
DENVER — Friday, March 9, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced today that $20.4 million in state aviation fuel tax revenues will be distributed to 47 Colorado airports under the Aviation Discretionary Grant Program. Stranded by the Storm
Although our local region of southeast Colorado was not impacted by the snowstorm that hit hardest to the north, it was strong enough to cause a lot of experienced highway travelers to sit tight and wait it out. Snow Removal Efforts Continue
The familiar center lane of snow in many of Lamar’s roadways is being shoveled up and hauled off. With snow removal, first comes first. Colorado Employment Situation – November 2011
Nonfarm payroll jobs in Colorado decreased by 4,500 from October to November to 2,247,600 jobs, according to the survey of business establishments. Government declined by 1,600 payroll jobs and the private sector declined by 2,900. According to the survey of households, the unemployment rate decreased one-tenth of a percentage point to 8.0 percent. LCC Men’s Basketball Update
The Lamar Community College Men’s Basketball team fell to 3-6 on the season after going 1-2 in Casper, Wyoming this past weekend. The Lopes took on Cloud County Community College on Thursday. Granada Playground Taking Shape
The rainy weather from this past Saturday, October 8, postponed the work scheduled for the construction of all the playground equipment at the Granada Park. Mayor Leslie Baca said the work will be done mostly by volunteers and with some help from Summit Recreation, the playground suppliers. Signals Set to Control Traffic at Holly Bridge

SECCI Golf Tournament Raises $11,000 for Local Cancer Patients
