30+ Men’s Basketball has Familiar Champion!

Lamar Parks and Recreation recently concluded its 30 and over men’s basketball season and for the 2nd year in a row. Cruikshank Reality was the last team standing! The league was comprised of seven teams that played a nine game regular season. The season was followed by a single elimination tournament in which Cruikshank Reality defeated Valley National Bank 64-53. The LCC men’s basketball team picked up its first win in 2012 last week with a 90-89 win over Clarendon College last Wednesday in Clarendon, TX. However their struggles continue as they dropped a 74-71 decision against Northeastern Junior College, Saturday in Sterling, CO. Lamar Lady Lopes Drop two at Hutchinson Thanksgiving Classic

The Lamar Lady Lopes took on Dodge City at the Hutchinson Thanksgiving Classic, dropping the first game 72-61. The game was a tail of two halves. LCC jumped out early using pressure defense and a strong transition game to take an early 10 point lead against the Conq’s.  Lamar led 17-7 early in the game. The Lamar Lady Runnin’ Lopes went to Colby, Kansas on Wednesday to take on the Colby Lady Trojans.  Lamar had defeated Colby on the season opener in Lamar, and was able to get the season sweep on the road, defeating the Trojans 56-53. 1A boys and girls teams compete tomorrow through Saturday in Greeley for the state basketball championship. The boy’s match up tomorrow will see Walsh vs Shining Mountain and Springfield taking on Stratton. Girl’s games will have Kim taking on Belleview Christian, McClave against Fleming and Wiley versus Simla. LCC Begins Region IX Tournament this Friday

The Lamar Community College Men’s Basketball team closed out the regular season Sunday night with a 97-57 win over Adams State JV in Alamosa, CO. The Lopes finished the regular season with a six game winning streak and an overall record of 23-7. The Lopes started out quickly hitting nine of their first 10 shots. Registration for the annual, double-elimination basketball event is open to five age levels. Games will be played at the Wiley School Gym. Doors open at 7:30am for youngest registrants. LCC Men’s Basketball Teams Heading to Region IX Tournament as High Seed
