The Lamar Police Department has received reports of individuals attempting to sell magazines door to door. The magazine salespeople are stating that they are representing the Lamar Community College and the magazines will be given to service men and women stationed abroad. Record Number of Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies plan St. Patrick’s Weekend DUI Crackdown

Prowers County Sheriff February 2012 Report
The Prowers County Sheriff’s Office responded to 301 calls for service this past February, with 158 from Lamar, 44 from Holly, 16 from Wiley and 76 from the county. Lamar reported seven DUI’s, eighteen warrant arrests, 49 jail related calls and four traffic accidents. There were five traffic accidents reported from Holly, one theft, two for harassment and one assault. Arrest Made in Purse Snatcher Case
On February 24, 2012 officers from the Lamar Police Department received information about the purse which was stolen as part of a robbery in the 200 block of South 6th Street on February 23, 2012. The Prowers County Sheriff’s office responded to 348 calls for Service in January, of which 201 were for Lamar, eight for Holly, seventeen for Wiley and 91 for the county. Ammonia Spill Contained in Walsh, No Injuries
The all-clear was given for Wednesday’s anhydrous ammonia spill in Walsh at approximately 1pm. Three haz-mat vehicles and 75 responders took part in the evacuation of some three dozen residents and the handling of the tank carrying the fertilizer. Walsh Townspeople Evacuated Due to Toxic Spill
Thirty-five to 40 homes in Walsh were evacuated between 8 and 9am this morning, February 8, due to a leaking 1,000 gallon tank carrying anhydrous ammonia.
