Prowers County Democrats Select Candidates at Saturday Assembly
The Prowers County Democratic Party held their county assembly this past Saturday, March 31 at the Rodeway Cow Palace Inn, in Lamar. SDS Celebrates Their Annual Awareness Day

Prowers County Commissioners Delay Closing CR 9
A decision on closing County Road 9 off Highway 287 in Prowers County will be delayed for 30 days. Greg Emick and Charlie Fowler met with the Prowers County Commissioners, Tuesday, March 27. Ft. Lyon Prison Receives $5M for Repurposing Project
Governor Hickenlooper’s office reported today that $5 million in settlement funds from mortgage lenders will be spent on developing the Fort Lyon Correctional Facility in Las Animas into a housing and treatment center for homeless military veterans. Employers in Colorado added 19,500 nonfarm payroll jobs from December to January for a total of 2,284,800 jobs, according to the survey of business establishments. Private sector payroll jobs increased 22,500 and government decreased 3,000. According to the survey of households, the unemployment rate decreased one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.8 percent.
