Fire Works Ban

Due to the high fire danger Prowers County has been added to the “Red Flag” counties.  I have consulted with Fire Chiefs Warn, Cook and Duffy on the fire dangers posed by public fireworks display. 

I have come to the conclusion that the fire danger is just too high to permit the use of any fireworks including public displays.  I regret having to make this decision but the public’s safety has to be my first priority. 

Therefore, I have cancelled the public displays in Lamar and Granada.  It is the hope that if the fire danger is abated that the displays can be held during the county fair or during Labor Day.
