Big Timbers History Corner #7 – Award Certificate from the Universal Exposition 1904
This week’s image would be great for a museum scavenger hunt, as it is tucked away in a corner of the downstairs displays, behind the antique dentist chair. It’s an award certificate from the Universal Exposition held in St. Louis in 1904, giving a gold medal to Prowers County Wheat. The museum’s framed certificate does NOT feature a strategically placed heart over portions of Mercury’s anatomy. Blister Beetles: They are back – with a vengeance!
Last year I wrote an article about blister beetles, but with recent outbreaks reported, thought it would be a good refresher. Several different species of blister beetles, not only in rangeland, but in lawn and garden settings as well, have been reported and observed.
