The Lamar FFA Chapter packed the Lamar Community Building with over 900 spectators for the Lamar FFA Donkey Basketball game on April 5, 2012. The tournament consisted of four different teams; Lamar FFA Chapter “Honey Badgers”, D.O.N.K.E.Y. (LHS Staff), KVAY Radio, and the “Donkey Dunkers” (Community State Bank).
The Honey Badger Team (Lamar FFA):
Team members consisted of Logan Bender, Austin Peck, Jolynn Rider, Theresa Butler, and Colin Mahanay; the coaches were Lexi Wurst and Cliff Marts. The cheerleaders for the Honey Badgers were: Zeb Harvey, Callie Brase, Kennadee Oppliger, Shaile Taylor, and Cierra Medina, and the FFA mascot was Ruger Stocking.
D.O.N.K.E.Y. (Dishing Out Neurotic Klepto Egostical Youngsters) or the LHS Staff Team:
Austin Wertz, Joe Harbert, Leigh Forney, Kim Trout, Chris Medina and Miguel Ramon made up the staff team with Ray Macias as the D.O.N.K.E.Y. coach. The water boy was Jeff Flint, and their cheerleader was Dana Camp.
Matthew Sizemore, Curtis Strausser, Rocio Rivera, Shane Hunter, and Junior Ramos were part of the KVAY team. Coaches for KVAY were March Johnson and Rich Lingle. Cheering on KVAY was Debbie Ellis, Frankie Carillo, Esther Lingle, Jennifer Aguilera, and Alexis Johnson.
Donkey Dunkers Team:Donkey Dunkers from Community State Bank were Scott Reed, Craig Choat, Joe Mari, Robbie Wilger, and Tyler Downing.
Manure Tech Team (Super Pooper Scoopers):
The manure technician team, otherwise known as the “Super Pooper Scoopers”, consisted of: Callie Bennett, Kyle Hicks, Lauren Tinnes, Sarah Blain, and Amber Comer.
Jerica Hainer started out the event by singing the National Anthem. Community State Bank played against team D.O.N.K.E.Y. and came up on top. Next team KVAY Radio faced the FFA Honey Badger team with the FFA officers coming out on top of Round 2. In the championship game Community State Bank faced the Lamar FFA Honey Badger team and ended up winning the donkey basketball tournament. Marsh Johnson participated as the emcee from KVAY.
The chapter would like to send out a BIG thank you to M&M Auctions and Brad Morgan. Brad Morgan, volunteered his time as auctioneer for the night. Before the Donkey Basketball game and during intermission the chapter held their annual hired hand auction. The auction turned out very well, and the chapter would like to send out a BIG thank you to all of the buyers, as it was very much appreciated for donating their time. All students listed will be working eight hours for the business or individual that purchased them. Thanks to the FFA members for donating their time to raise money for the chapter.

Lamar FFA Donkey Basketball had an outstanding attendance.
