PTK Inducts 25 New Members
(Lamar, Colorado, April 3, 2012) Lamar Community College’s Beta Eta Gamma chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honorary recognized 25 new members during the spring induction ceremony held last week. This is one of the largest groups ever to be inducted in the chapter. A Funeral Mass for longtime Granada resident, Augustine M. Southeast Colorado Arts Council to Host “Hotter Than Hell” Summer Art Show
The Southeast Colorado Arts Council will host their annual Art Show and Membership Drive on Thursday, July 26, 2012. The summer art show, entitled, “Hotter than Hell”, will have Jeremy Manyik as their featured artist. Manyik, who resides in La Junta, is an accomplished oil and acrylic painter. Prowers County Sheriff Report, March, 2012
The Prowers County Sheriff’s Office responded to 295 calls for service for March, 2012. Lamar generated 153 calls, there were 25 for Holly, 15 in Wiley and 93 in the county at large. Fifty-seven of the Lamar calls were jail related and 20 resulted in warrant arrests. Holly reported four traffic accidents and related problems, plus one warrant arrest and one case of harassment. NWS Report Shows Under Average Snowpack
As of April 1, 2012, this year’s snowpack levels were well below average for South Central and Southeast Colorado. In the upper Rio Grande Basin, the snowpack as at 53% of average overall, down from 83% of average last month at this time, and tracking well behind last year’s 76% of average.
