Kit Carson Highway 40/287 Project Resumes
April 5, 2012 – Work is resuming for the season on the U.S. 40/287 reconstruction project through Kit Carson. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project is resurfacing 2.3-miles of highway with concrete, installing new water and sewer lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and new street lighting. It also consists of reconfiguring the State Highway 59 intersection with an additional northbound acceleration lane and a wider turning radius for large trucks. ARPA Motion to Dismiss WildEarth Guardian Lawsuit Denied
Representatives of the Arkansas River Power Authority (ARPA) and the Lamar Utilities Board (LUB) expressed disappointment that their motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the WildEarth Guardians (WEG) in early 2011 was denied. ARPA sought to dismiss the lawsuit because the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is already actively addressing the emissions issues at the Lamar Repowering Project. New Holly Trustees Begin Work
Two new members joined the Holly Town Board of Trustees for their first meeting, Wednesday, April 4. Frank Vazquez ran for re-election, garnering the most votes with 104. Holly had 339 residents registered to vote and 145 votes were cast during the election. Marty Campbell had 103 and Larry Sitt had 92 to gain the last seat on the board.
