LCC RODEO: Lopes Score in Casper
Carter Coble led the Lamar Community College Rodeo team at Casper, WY last weekend with a first place finish in Steer Wrestling. Mounted Thunder Competes at Prowers County Fairground
Friday’s storm in Prowers County may have dissuaded some participants from coming to Lamar for the Prairie War competition, according to event organizer, Axel Thurner, but sufficient numbers of enthusiasts were on hand to make it a contest. Colorado Ag Exports Continue to Grow
LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Colorado’s agricultural exports increased more than 25 percent in the first two months of 2012 versus 2011, led by increases in meat and dairy products. For the fourth year in a row, Colorado’s ag exports showed an increase in the first two months of the year: In 2012, Colorado’s agricultural exports grew another $45 million, to more than $222 million. Three S.E. Colorado Counties Struck by Five Tornadoes
Five tornadoes swept through southeast Colorado the night of Friday, April 27, knocking down numerous power lines, damaging or destroying several homes and buildings and causing, fortunately, only minor injuries to some area residents. The preliminary report from the National Weather service in Pueblo said there were two tornadoes in Prowers County, two in Kiowa County and one in Bent County. Change is on the Way for PMC
Events are transpiring that may offer a new direction for Prowers Medical Center in Lamar and those changes may have an impact on the future health care for the community. Lamar Police Make Drug Bust on Distribution/Possession
Media Release On Thursday, April 19, 2012, officers from the Lamar Police Department’s Drug Task Force arrested Aaron Carl Westhoff, 19, of Lamar for unlawfully distributing a Schedule II controlled substance, as well as possession of less than 2 ounces of Marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. PMC Employees Host Board Candidate Forum
A second public forum hosted by hospital employees for the six candidates for Prowers Medical Center Board of Directors was held at the Cultural Evens Center Tuesday, April 24. Rigel Briefs Utility Board on Repowering Project Progress
The Lamar Utilities Board tabled a decision on a new, four year agreement with NMPP, Nebraska Municipal Power Pool. The organization provides electricity, natural gas and related services to a host of communities in six regional states. Drug Bust and Possible Drug Overdose
MEDIA RELEASE On Friday, April 20, 2012, Officers of the Lamar Police Department responded to the 900 block of S. Main St. on the report of a disturbance and a possible drug overdose.
