Lamar Utilities Board Updates Equipment

The Lamar Utility Board approved expenditures for equipment not directly related to energy production.  Members approved $23,700 for a replacement copier, capable of making large-scale copies of engineering blueprints.  Light Plant Superintendent Houssin Hourieh said some of the original prints are deteriorating with age and the upgraded copier will perform more functions than the one being replaced.  Board members also approved $18,600 for increased computer information storage for the entire plant operation.  The current 3.0 … Read entire article »

John Marrin, President of Lamar Community College, and Shawna Hodge, Lamar’s Main Street Director, sat in on their first PCDI meeting, Tuesday morning, February 28. Both were elected to the board during the annual meeting of Prowers County Development Incorporated on February 16.   The weatherman was on target with his call for strong winds in southeastern Colorado Tuesday, February 28. Winds in excess of 50mph were whipping up the usual tumbleweeds, but some business signs and businesses along Main Street in Lamar didn’t fare very well.
