New Directors Added to Lamar Chamber of Commerce
Four persons were voted onto the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, board of directors, Thursday evening, December 8. The positions are for one year with new members replacing those whose terms have expired. The new members are: Juan Saldana-WalMart, Kevin Swanson-Colorado Mills, Tera Bender-Fellowship Credit Union and Bryce Sparks-Big R. Prowers County Approves 2012 Budget
The 2012 Prowers County budget, approved by the county commissioners following December 8 public hearing, totals $17,665,344, a decrease from the 2011 budget which is $18,128,583. Tax mills for 2012 are unchanged from 2011 at 27.17. Funds generated from the mill levy have increased $44,000 over last year to $3,359,257. And the Scams Keep Coming
The Lamar Police Department was recently given information regarding a credit card scam involving a local business. Doctor Sean Oquest recently received an e-mail requesting an estimate for Chiropractic services for several individuals. The e-mail requested the services for workers of an off-shore oil refinery who were to be in Lamar on vacation.
