Repowering Project Offline for Additional Testing
Lamar Light Plant Superintendent Rick Rigel informed the Lamar Utilities Board the coal plant may be offline until March of next year. Rigel said the plant, which went offline on November 12 after various systems testing had been concluded. Additional comprehensive testing has been planned by the manufacturer Babcock and Wilcox and Rigel said the light plant will run its own analysis of test results which will be compared to those of Babcock and Wilcox. David R. Wollert…May 1, 1922 – November 30, 2011
A Private Family inurnment for Lamar resident and former longtime Wiley farmer and rancher, David R. Wollert will be held at the Wiley Cemetery at a later date. Per Mr. Wollert’s request, cremation has taken place and there was no public viewing. Candy Cane Festival is this Weekend
Lamar shoppers are planning on their local version of Black Friday with the annual Candy Cane Festival, set for this Friday and Saturday. Participating merchants are offering discounts and special savings to area shoppers and various forms of holiday entertainment have been prepared, including the annual Parade of Lights starting at 6:30pm this Friday evening, followed by Santa’s appearance in the Enchanted Forest. PCDI Developing Balanced 2012 Budget
The 2012 Prowers County Development Incorporated budget needs trimming, about $23,000 to be balanced for the approaching year. Board members believe $15,000 could be eliminated by taking that Community Partnership line item out of the budget, and the balance could be trimmed from various remaining expenditures. Community Partnerships brought in only $725 so far this year. The bulk of operating funds comes from the City of Lamar and Prowers County, each contributing $50,000 a year. … Read entire article »

ARPA Board Names Rick Rigel General Manager
