Lamar Airport Construction Project Underway

  The City of Lamar received a $430,000 grant from the Colorado Aeronautical Board for the construction of a concrete heavy aircraft tie down area (hardstand) and asphalt paving on the airport apron to improve water drainage. $387,000 is coming from CDOT and the city is contributing ten percent of the project, $43,000 in various in-kind donations. Recycling Organization Receives Prowers County Funding

  The Prowers County Commissioners received an operational update from Reva Phillips of Southeast and East Central Recycling, a non-profit group, based in Pritchett and serving this corner of the state, including Burlington, Walsenburg, Manzanola and into Goodland, KS.  Prowers County is one of 40 municipalities and entities served by Southeast and East Central Recycling and helps fund the operation with an annual $4,000 donation.  Phillips said her expenses are offset by charging all municipalities 17 cents per capita … Read entire article »

PMC Opens Cardio Rehabilitation Department

Prowers Medical Center continues to expand their cardio departments with the opening of the Cardio Rehabilitation Department this week.  Last year, PMC opened their pulmonary rehabilitation department for area patients. Lamar City September Sales Tax Shows Improvement

City Sales Tax collected in September showed an $18,588.43 increase for this year over 2010, for a 7.74% increase.  City Sales Tax collections were $258,611.79.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections were up 6.43% over last September for a $16,974.10 gain for a monthly total of $280,876.08.  Year-to-date collections for city sales tax showed a 2.68% improvement for a $65,470.46 gain and a collection total for the year of $2,512,914.70.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections … Read entire article »
