City of Lamar, August 2011 Utility Revenue Report

 This past August showed increases in electricity, sewer and trash services and a slight decline in water purchases for the city of Lamar.  Electricity was up 5.96% compared to 2010 for an increase of $85,529.63.  Sewer services were up 2.82% for a dollar gain over August of last year of, $1,105.57.  Trash collections improved 9.97% over last year for a gain of $8,680.11.  Water purchases showed a minor decrease of less than half of a … Read entire article »

Lamar Welcome Center Posts Visitor Gain

  The Lamar Welcome Center showed a 15% gain in the number of visitors this year compared to last.  Center Director, Judy Douglass, said their fiscal year begins in June, and there were 30,594 visitors who stopped by and registered their names with the Center on Main Street in Lamar.  Douglass said she registered 3,773 visitors for June, which was a 13% drop compared to 2010, but the other two summer months showed gains.  July was up … Read entire article »
