NLNAC Site Visit to LCC a Huge Success
(Lamar, Colorado, September 28, 2011) The Lamar Community College Nursing program hosted a site review for initial accreditation of its Associate Degree in Nursing program by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission, Inc. (NLNAC) on September 20-22, 2011. Lamar Area Hospice Receives $20,000 Donation
Two fund-raising events are held each year to benefit the Lamar Hospice Association, the Angels Open Golf Tournament and a summertime dinner and dance. Commissioners Research Ambulance Service Options
Brandon Chambers, owner of Med-Trans Ambulance in Lamar, provided the Prowers County Commissioners with an update on the operations of the service this past Tuesday, September 27. Sexually Violent Predator Moves to Lamar
News that a sexually violent predator had moved to Lamar brought close to 100 citizens to an informational meeting at the Cultural Events Center this past Tuesday evening, September 27. Rodger A. Aldridge, age 31, was convicted of attempted sex assault on a female when she was under 15 years of age. 2012 Lamar Light Plant Budget Outlined
The Lamar Utilities Board reviewed the 2012 budget for Lamar Light Plant and Repowering Project operations this past Tuesday, September 27. Superintendent Rick Rigel said the budget is funded primarily by retail electric sales amounting to $14.6 million and total revenues should be in excess of $15.4 million. Bomb Threat at Parkview Elementary School
Lamar Police responded to a bomb threat detected this morning (9/28) on a playground bench at Parkview Elementary School. Parkview Principal, Diane Nye, said the message was brought to her attention by a student, and at that point, 7:55am, she alerted the police and had the school evacuated using the school fire alarm.
