School Registration is Underway for the New Year

Lamar Utilities Board Discusses Potential November Rate Increase
Editor’s Note: Light Plant Superintendent Rick Rigel pointed out that potential rate increases at this time have not been finalized. Mr. Rigel stated that although purchased power costs will have an impact on future rate increases, the ones given in this article are not set in stone. Rigel added that he believed it would be unlikely that the Lamar Utilities Board will select the highest rate from the list of options presented to them. Lamar School Board Approves Personnel and Policy Revisions
Minor revisions to various school policies were approved by Lamar RE-2 school district board members during the August 9 monthly meeting. As explained by Superintendent Dave Tecklenburg, the revisions were upgrades from CASB policies and no major policy revisions were involved. On the same note, board members approved student handbooks for Washington, Parkview and Lamar Middle School. The handbooks reflect the board’s policies for the district. Lamar Council Okays Initial Plans for Water Connect Project to PMC, High Plains Clinic
The Lamar City Council appointed City Administrator Bill Pfeilsticker to the Lamar Building Finance Corporation, replacing Ron Stock. Stock had been serving a ten year term that expires in 2019. Previous board of director presidents had been city administrators. The term will expire on November 8 of that year. Pfeilsticker was hired by the council to replace Stock this past July.
