Hope and Frustration over Fort Lyon Prison Closing
Photos and Video by Russ Baldwin Governor Hickenlooper met with Fort Lyon prison employees in Las Animas today, July 26, and later discussed alternatives for the future closing of the prison with a host of Bent County and Las Animas officials including Las Animas Mayor Lawrence Sena, all three Bent County Commissioners, state representative Wes McKinley and state senator Kevin Grantham. Lamar Light & Power Continues to Restart Repowering Project

The plant has been offline since a December power outage, and engineering firms have been working to prevent future, similar problems. PCDI Ponders Marketing Big R Washington Street Property
How best to sell the former Big R warehouses on Washington Street in Lamar in Lamar was discussed by the Prowers County Development Incorporated board of directors this past Tuesday during their monthly meeting. The sale of the land and buildings will provide funding to PCDI for other incentive properties in an effort to foster economic growth in Prowers County.
