Testing Continues on Repowering Project Restart
Lamar Light and Power Superintendent Rick Rigel requested bids from two natural gas companies currently doing business with the power company. He explained to the Utility Board members, the amount of gas was minimal and would be used only for a five day period to assist the plant with it’s online start-up later this summer. Personnel Assignments Approved by RE-2 School Board
The Lamar RE-2 School Board approved extra duty assignments for five teachers during Monday night’s meeting, July 11. They included: Gary Hammer, Asst. Volleyball at LHS; Jesus Roman Jr, Asst Boys Soccer, LHS; Andy Shaw, Asst Golf, LHS; Katie Smotherman, 8th Grade Head Volleyball, LMS; Patrice Siegfried, Intramurals, Parkview Elementary. NWS Monthly Hydrology Report, Lamar Water Storage Report
Temperatures for June were generally two to six degrees above average across southeast Colorado. The Primary Observation sites at Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Alamosa were 3.9, 6.1 and 2.0 degrees above average respectively. Precipitation was generally well below average in July. Pueblo was 0.53 inches below average, Colorado Springs was off 2.08 inches and Alamosa was 0.59 inches off. June Lamar City Sales Tax Shows Year to Date Gain
Sales and Use Tax collections this year, from January to June, showed a 3.83%, or $59,295.41 increase over last year at this time. However, Total Sales and Use Tax collections for May were down 1.17% for a drop of just under $3,000. City sales tax for that period was up 1.39%, but Use Tax collected was down by 38% for a drop of $7,671. Pfeilsticker New Lamar City Administrator
Deputy city administrator Bill Pfeilsticker accepted the city administrator position, offered by the Lamar council during Monday night’s meeting, July 11. The council voted unanimously to offer a contract to Pfeilsticker, who has been employed as deputy administrator since 2009. Pfeilstiscker replaces Ron Stock, whose resignation took effect Friday, July 8.
