Tribute to Lincoln Night
Lincoln Elementary School in Lamar will not open next school year. As a cost-cutting move, Lincoln students are being sent to Parkview Elementary and Lamar Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year. It’s not known when, or if, Lincoln will re-open. A tribute to the school, it’s teachers, students and staff will be held from 6pm to 7pm, Wednesday, May 18 at the school. The pubic is invited to attend. PCDI Hosts Prowers County Economy Review
Southern Colorado Economic Development District is hosting a series of town hall meetings across a 12 county region of southern Colorado. The Prowers County meeting will be held Thursday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Mezzanine Room at the Prowers County Annex. This meeting is being co-sponsored by Prowers County Development, Inc. Lopes Re-Crowned Region IX Champions
The Lamar Community College baseball team hosted Otero Junior College in a best two out of three series for the NJCAA Region IX Championships. Otero won game one with a score of 11-7, and LCC won games two and three, 8-2 and 3-2. On Friday, the Lopes sent sophomore ace Arturo Maltos-Garica (11-1) to the mound. Ducky Dash Results
The annual Lamar Rotary ducky dash was held this past Sunday, May 15 and Four States Feed Yard held the winning ticket, #727, sold by Rotarian Anne Crampton. Four States Feedyard wins $750 in cash for their ticket purchase. Second Place winner was Kory DeWitt, for $500 and third place went to Wiley United Methodist Church for $250. Frisbie Shootout Re-enactment Draws Downtown Crowd
Lamar is steeped in history, and one notable event, the shooting of Night Marshall James Frisbie was re-enacted in downtown Lamar, following the Lamar Days parade this past Saturday, May 14. Willow Creek Park Draws a Crowd

A carnival, BBQ booths, vendors and exhibits, a car and motorcycle show, dancers, pony rides, horses and wagons, a pie auction, and the mayor with his yo-yo attracted young and old to Willow Creek Park this past Saturday. Happy Birthday, Lamar
Over 45 official entries took part in Saturday’s Lamar Days parade on May 14th. Sunny skies and cool temperatures brought out a crowd that lined the streets from East Olive to South Main to celebrate Lamar’s 125th anniversary.
