World Rodeo Champion, Marlene McRae, LCC Alumna of the Year
The list of accomplishments is impressive for Marlene McRae, formerly of eastern Colorado and graduate of Lamar Community College. She started riding horses when she was five, and by age 13 won the All-Around Cowgirl Award in her first Little Britches competition. Lamar Days Means BBQ
The 7th Annual Wild West BBQ Cook-off and Backyard Grillers Competition gets underway May 13th and 14th at Willow Creek Park in Lamar. This year the cooking competition will be on the eastern side of the park, paralleling the road, from the southern end of the park to the Rotary Way entrance. High Plains Community Health Center will join the nation in celebrating National Women’s Health Week, which kicks off on Mother’s Day, May 8 through May 14, 2011.
