Bent County Fire Takes Toll on Light Plant Power Poles

Rigel told the Lamar Utilities Board on Tuesday, he surveyed the burn area on Sunday and estimated that 15 poles in a three-mile area must be replaced. Colorado Brownfields Foundation Reviewing Lamar Asbestos Situation
Decades ago, when asbestos was considered a good way to insulate, not much was known about the health precautions needed when using the substance. Numerous homes and commercial buildings in Lamar were insulated with it, floors, walls, attics and even ceiling tiles. Lamar City Sales Tax Revenue Shows Monthly Increase
Although the February city sales tax collected in March was off by less than a quarter of a percent, Total Sales and Use Tax Collections were up 2.82% for an increase of $6,578.20. Year-to-Date collections for both categories showed an increase of 5.78%, or $45,237.25 for that period. Total tax collections amount to $828,461.79.
