Search Begins for New Lamar City Administrator
The Lamar City Council will meet in special session, Monday, May 2 at 6:30pm to review applications for a new city administrator. The executive session meeting will not be open to the public. Drought Expanding Across Southeast Colorado
La Nina conditions are expected to weaken into June, which is expected to bring dry conditions for the eastern plains and southern Colorado. The National Weather Service out of Pueblo reports the current U.S. Drought Monitor now indicates extreme drought conditions across Baca County as well as extreme eastern Las Animas County, extreme southeastern Bent County and extreme southwestern Prowers County. PMC Audit Gets Clean Bill of Health
Prowers Medical Center’s net assets gained almost 27% over 2009 and 2010, according to an annual independent audit. The findings were presented to the PMC board April 27, during the monthly director’s meeting. Net assets increased $1,398,536, or 12.5% for 2010 and $1,410,095, or 14.4% in 2009. New Start for Lamar Compassion Center
John Maxwell, a volunteer at the Compassion Center on West Olive Street in Lamar has become the interim director. Lamar’s Friday Fire Wrap Up
One thousand acres of land in a two-mile stretch, running along highway 196 north of Lamar, burned this past Friday night and Saturday morning, caused by an out of control camp fire.
