La Nina conditions are expected to weaken into June, which is expected to bring dry conditions for the eastern plains and southern Colorado. PMC Audit Gets Clean Bill of Health

Prowers Medical Center’s net assets gained almost 27% over 2009 and 2010, according to an annual independent audit. The findings were presented to the PMC board April 27, during the monthly director’s meeting. Net assets increased $1,398,536, or 12.5% for 2010 and $1,410,095, or 14.4% in 2009. The automatic 2.5% rate hike, set to go in effect in June for Lamar Light and Power customers, will be deferred until November. Light plant superintendent Rick Rigel said the current finances and cash reserves are, “in pretty good shape right now.” Rigel added that the light plant is also receiving monthly payments of $26,000 from ARPA, Arkansas River Power Authority, against a back payment of $962,000.
