Employers in Colorado added 2,200 nonfarm payroll jobs from December to January for a total of 2,223,400 jobs. Private sector payroll jobs increased by 5,000 and government decreased by 2,800. The Colorado unemployment rate increased from 8.9 to 9.1 percent and the national unemployment rate dropped from 9.4 to 9.0 percent over the same period. National Weather Service Report: March 1st Water Supply Outlook for Southeast Colorado

After drier than average conditions in January, February saw above average precipitation in the Arkansas River Basin. As of March 1, the snowpack in the Arkansas River Basin was at 108% of average overall, up from 103% of average last month, and tracking ahead of the snowpack last year at this time which was 95% of average. Ron Stock Resigning as Lamar City Administrator

Ron Stock’s resignation as Lamar city administrator will take effect on July 8, 2011. An official announcement will be made at the Lamar city council meeting, Monday, March 14, although council members and some city staff have been made aware of his decision. Stock submitted a letter considering resignation to the city council almost two years ago, citing health reasons for his decision, but no action was taken.
