John Stulp named Special Water Policy Advisor

Gov. John Hickenlooper announced John Stulp will be Special Policy Advisor to the Governor on Water and will chair the Interbasin Compact Committee. Stulp is now the Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture, a position he has held since 2006. Dr. John Abbott Joins High Plains Community Health Center Staff

Dr. John Abbott D.O., well known local physician, has joined the High Plains Community Health Center medical staff. Dr. Abbott has been a familiar face at the emergency room since 1994 and will now shift his skills to providing patient centered medical care for acute and chronic conditions with an emphasis on preventive medicine. Dr. Abbott received his medical training at Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by an internship at Phoenix General Hospital. He is involved in many local organizations including being Vice Chief of Staff at Prowers Medical Center, Medical Director for the Lamar Ambulance Service, a member of the Colorado Emergency Medical Practice Advisory Council, and Medical Director for Colorado Motocross. Senator Greg Brophy, R-Wray, has introduced a bill (SB11-012) allowing school children to keep their life saving medications with them at school. Senator Brophy said that he was “appalled” when he discovered how difficult it is, under the current law, for kids to carry their asthma inhalers, allergy medications, and other life saving prescriptions at school. The Colorado Division of Wildlife is soliciting original artwork entries for the 2011 Colorado Waterfowl Stamp Art Contest. This year’s species of focus is the green-winged teal (Anas crecca). The deadline for artists to submit entries is 4 p.m., Friday, March 4.
